🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsSpeaking at the opening of the exhibition, which covers the political and social transformations between 1990 and 1999, and includes photographs, documents, original sources and materials from that period, Özdemir said that the 1990s were a period when Türkiye faced very serious problems such as political stability and internal security.
Özdemir, who emphasized that this period should not be forgotten, said, "The importance of the exhibition is very valuable in terms of preventing our country from facing such political instabilities and also seeing what the strong leadership of our President means to us today in different areas, both within the communication ecosystem and in cultural areas."
Özdemir stated that the axis of hegemonic instability in different cultural areas of those years will also be seen in the exhibition, and noted the following:
"Especially the cinema field, visual fields, audio media, the pressures created, the oppressions faced by the written and printed media, we will see examples of each of these in different ways on these walls. Together, we will see those periods again, understand closely what these periods mean to us, and visualize them concretely in our minds again."
"Every day of the 90s is a different chaos"Ankara Culture, Art and Civilization Association President Özekin also said that the exhibition consists of 21 sections.
Özekin, who stated that the exhibition started with the section on the 11 governments that changed in the 1990s, said, "11 governments in a short period of 10 years, in other words, the period of governments that lasted less than a year. And mainly the chaos brought by this period of instability. This chaos has an economic side, a fight against terrorism and a political assassination side."
Özekin explained the sections of the exhibition one by one and continued as follows:
"When we were determining this opening day with the Directorate of Communications, we said let's determine some meaningful days. There have been so many serious scandals every day that if we had set it on June 10, it would have been the foundation day of the Western Working Group. If we had set it on June 18, it would have been the anniversary of the Welfare Union Government being overthrown by a postmodern coup. June 21, it would have been the day Necmettin Erbakan submitted his resignation. We said let's not stick to any day anymore because every day of the 90s was another chaos."
After the ribbon cutting, Özdemir and Peru toured the exhibition area and received information from Özekin.
The exhibition can be visited until July 7th.
